The common route for turning copper sulfide ores into metal is high temperature oxidation of sulfides to produce an impure liquid copper. This is cast into slab-like anodes. Principal impurities are iron and precious metals (gold and silver). The anodes are electrolytically refined in cells sketched in Fig. 8.There is a resemblance to the cell of Fig. 7.

1999-1-15 · The zeta potential versus pH curves of the copper sulfide minerals used in this study are presented in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Fig. 4, Fig. 5, Fig. 6 as a function of nitrogen gas, oxygen gas and hydrogen peroxide conditioning. The value of the zeta potential at pH 11.0, the conditioning pH, should reflect the extent of surface oxidation.
2020-9-1 · 1. Introduction. Copper-sulfide minerals, such as chalcocite (Cu 2 S), bornite (Cu 5 FeS 4), and chalcopyrite (CuFeS 2) are important copper resources from copper mines (Fullston et al., 1999).Flotation tends to be used to recover and concentrate these minerals. Flotation is a separation method that uses the surface wettability property (hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity).
In the case of the Minto operation the copper oxide and sulphide minerals occur in separate ore deposits and can be treated separately or blended together. This investigation has shown that using -octyl hydroxamates (AM28 made by Ausmelt Limited) in conjunction with traditional sulphide collectors can successfully simultaneously recover copper sulphides and oxides by flotation from blended ore ...
2020-9-18 · Copper-containing minerals have been extensively used in Fenton-like processes for degradation of pollutants and have exhibited great potential for environmental remediation. This work reports the first use of copper sulfide (CuS), a typical Cu-mineral, for the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for pollutant degradation; the study also elucidates the underlying mechanism of these processes.
2019-8-28 · Copper and zinc are mainly extracted from sulfide ores using pyrometallurgical techniques. Pyrometallurgical processing of arsenic containing ores is a problem due to the emission of toxic gases (Filippou et al. 2007).Biohydrometallurgy is widely used to process gold bearing concentrates, and may also be used to extract non-ferrous metals arsenic-containing concentrates (Neale et al. 2017).
